Catechism with memory verse and
seven Bible readings

Seven Bible reading passages follow.
l. What is the Bible? The Bible is God's message to us all.

2. Why did God give us the Bible? God gave us the Bible to teach us how to be saved.
|
3. What is God like? We cannot see God, but we know that he is holy and loving.
|
4. How many gods do we worship? We worship one God in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
|
5. Do things happen by chance? No. God planned everything before he made the world.
|
6. What was man made like? God made man like himself, to serve him and be with him for ever.
|
7. Did man stay good and happy? No. Adam sinned and death entered the world.
|
8. Why do we sin? We sin because we have sinful hearts.
|
9. Why does God still give us good gifts? God shows kindness to all men, because he wants to bring them back to himself.
|
10. Where did salvation come from? God chose a people for himself and made plan to save them through Jesus Christ.
|
11. Who is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became man and so is both God and man.
|
12. How did Jesus Christ save his people? He died to take the punishment for their sins.
|
13. What is conversion? Conversion is turning to God in repentance and faith.
|
14. What is repentance? Repentance is a change of mind leading to a changed life.
|
15. What is Faith in Christ? Faith in Christ is trusting him alone to save us.
|
16. Can we turn to God by our own power? No. We must be born again by the Holy Spirit.
|
17. What happens in justification? God forgives our sins and accepts us as righteous in his sight.
|
18. How can God justify sinners? God can justify sinners, because Christ has obeyed and suffered in their place.
|
19. How were people saved before Christ came? They trusted in the Saviour God had promised.
|
20: How do we become children of God? God adopts us into his family when we believe in Christ.
|
21. How must a Christian live? A Christian must live a holy life in obedience to God's Word.
|
22. Is the Christian life easy? No. It is hard, but, it brings true happiness.
|
23. Why do real Christians go on believing? They are kept safe by the power of God.
|
24. Do Christians serve God on their own? No. They worship and witness together as Christ's church.
|
25. What is the meaning of baptism? Baptism is a picture of the washing away of sin.
|
26. What is the meaning of the Lord's Supper? The Lord's Supper reminds us of Christ's death in the place of sinners.
|
27. What happens to the Christian when he dies? His soul goes to be with Christ which is far better.
|
28. Where is the Lord Jesus now? He is in heaven until he comes again at the last day.
|
29. What will happen at the last day? The dead will be raised and all will be judged by Christ.
|
30: What will happen to men after the judgement? They will be either with God or in hell for ever.
